The Sunshine Vitamin
Vitamin D is commonly called "The Sunshine Vitamin" because it is produced naturally through exposure to ultraviolet B light (UVB) both from the sun and from most indoor tanning units. During the winter months in Michigan the sun doesn't provide adequate UVB to produce Vitamin D. Because of this, people who tan indoors on a regular basis have been shown to have significantly higher blood levels of Vitamin D compared to non-tanners!
